The Ouray Via Ferrata is INCREDIBLE! An amazing way to see Box Canyon from a different perspective. The pictures don’t do it justice, but here’s a few to give you a general idea of how the Via Ferrata looks.
It took us about 3 hours, but we were moving pretty quick! I would say allow 3-5 hours for your adventure! Especially if you are wanting to stop and take pictures. (And you will for sure want to stop and snap some photos.)
My husband and I don’t have much climbing experience, so we decided to hire a guide. We went through Mountain Trip, which also guides for the Telluride Via Ferrata.
If you decide not to hire a guide, just make sure you have all the proper equipment and go early enough in the day to avoid those mountain afternoon storms!
Equipment: Via ferrata set, climbing harness, climbing helmet, good grip shoes, and gloves, otherwise your hands will be completely blistered. And of course plenty of water and snacks.
